Network Marketing Basics: Do You Need An Attitude Adjustment?

How you do anything is how you do everything. How do you approach your network marketing business? Is it just something you’re going to “try” for 30 days to see how it goes? Or are you willing to put your nose to the grind and go to work consistently for the next 730 days at least? If 730 days sounds like an excessively long time to you, it’s time you adjusted your attitude toward your network marketing career.

Most people new to network marketing approach it almost the same way they approach a new job. “Hmm, no sure if this is really for me but I’ll give it a try for 30 days see if I like it.” What?! This isn’t your granddaddy’s J-O-B. This is the rest of your life! Whether you fail or succeed will be up to you—not your sponsor, your company or your product.

It took me a long time to grasp that concept. I was notorious for blaming my company, the compensation plan, my sponsor (why didn’t they help me?) for my lack of success. When I was honest  with myself, however, I discovered than none of those things really mattered.  The truth was it wasn’t so much that those things didn’t work.  I was the one not working!

Can you relate to any of my past habits? I would go hard promoting my company for a few hours then I would check my stats to see how many clicks I had received. Then, I’d rush over to my autoresponder to see how many new subscribers had opted in. If I didn’t see quick results, I’d automatically assume that particular company wasn’t working or maybe I was using the wrong technique to market it.  Off I’d go to Google the latest and greatest marketing strategies that would have prospects beating down my door, credit card in hand ready to join me.

Now I know that the secret to success in this industry is consistent effort. Build relationships with your target audience daily.  Find a marketing strategy you enjoy and do it every day.  Remember, people will join you and buy from you only if they know, like, and trust you.  What did you do today to make someone know, like, and trust you? Will you commit to doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes until you succeed in your network marketing company? If you cannot make this commitment, then you’re probably better off with your J-O-B.

Network Marketing Basics - Why Should I Join You?

If a prospect asked you that question, what would you say?

Will your answer make your prospect want to sign up right away or

will it leave them running toward the nearest exit? If you struggle with this answer, then read on for more insights.

In order to answer this question properly, you must understand your

prospect's needs and wants. What is their reason for looking for a

business opportunity? How much money do they want to earn? What will

they use the money for? You must probe to find out what's in their heart.

Once you know the answers to these questions, you can tailor your response

accordingly. Do you remember what it was like when you were looking at different

business opportunities? What made you join with your sponsor? Also, what level

of marketer were you? Were you a newbie or a seasoned pro? Newbies have different

needs than experienced network marketers.

Network Marketing Basics

For a newbie, an offer of one-on-one coaching would be very appealing whereas a seasoned pro may be more interested in what kind of systems you have in place. For example, advertising co-ops or ready-made marketing systems would appeal to them.

Do you offer ad co-ops to your team right now? What kind of training do you personally provide your team members? Remember that training can take many different forms. It could arrive as an email lesson every few days to their inbox or it could be a skype chat. Teleconferences are still effective as training tools, too.

Be creative and come up with different answers to this question so that the next time someone asks you why they should join you, your answer will lead them to sign up with you immediately.
